Description
The Park District is a separate municipal agency governed by 5 elected commissioners. The Park District currently owns and maintains 650 acres of land consisting of over 40 park areas, a swimming beach, an 18-hole golf course, a 97-acre nature preserve and numerous facilities.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate, design and conduct environmental education programs for school groups. Act as a liaison to local school districts and maintain good communications with educators. Coordinate, design and conduct teacher workshops. Design and conduct environmental education, interpretive and outdoor recreation programs for the public. Design and conduct after school, nature birthday party, scout and custom programs. Plan and direct summer camp(s).
Develop and manage program budgets. Provide site supervision, greet visitors, distribute information and answer questions. Hire, train and supervise part-time staff, seasonal staff and volunteers.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in education or natural science with a minimum of 2 years experience in environmental education/interpretation or related field and demonstrated ability to work enthusiastically with a broad clientele (pre-school through adult). Candidate should possess strong leadership and problem-solving skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, solid customer service background and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, plus some weekends, holidays, evenings and other times as required.
Compensation: $33,000 to $38,000 plus excellent benefit package
