Description

Colorado School of Mines Renewable Energy Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (REMRSEC), in collaboration with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor level position within the field of renewable energy. The anticipated starting date is August 2010.

Colorado School of Mines (Mines) is a public research institution dedicated to education and research in the areas of energy, materials, minerals, and the environment. The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is the nation's primary laboratory for renewable energy and energy efficiency research and development.

Initiated in fall 2009, the National Science Foundation sponsored REMRSEC is focused on transformative materials advances and educational directions that greatly impact emerging renewable energy technologies. Its two interdisciplinary research groups focus on advanced materials and concepts for solar energy conversion and fundamental understanding and control of ion transport in membranes. An initial seed area is directed at high-density energy storage.

The Center maintains state-of-the-art shared research facilities, has strong industrial outreach and international partnerships, an active outreach program, and a strong commitment to enhancing diversity at all levels. In addition to NREL, Mines has close relations with the United States Geological Survey, National Institute of Standards and Technology and the National Center for Atmospheric Research, all located nearby.
