Renewable Energy Technical Product Manager

Position Overview:

As a Renewable Energy Technical Product Manager, you will require knowledge of solar systems & battery design, particularly related to off-grid solar applications. You must have a technical background, be a self starter, highly motivated, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Essential responsibilities revolve around technical training & support, technical writing & product development. In addition, you will need to possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy.

Responsibilities:

• Present products to the market & communicate the company technology message
• Provide battery technical and application support, training, field testing, warranty analysis and assigned projects, as necessary
• Provide technical project design and product support to Renewable Energy customers
• Conduct product training sessions as needed to customers & installers
• Develop training curriculums related to batteries and Renewable Energy systems
• Drive the creation of key product readiness materials such as technical white papers, presentations, training content, magazine articles etc.
• Ongoing technology competitive analysis and assessment
• Optimize current product positioning and future product design
• Develop clear MRD's and product requirement documents to assist in next generation products
• Participate in multi-disciplinary teams consisting of internal and external resources to accomplish tasks related to the development of new products
• Coordinate laboratory & field tests including the analysis of results, reporting and recommendations
• Work with Engineering to develop and execute testing protocols
• You must enjoy spending time in the marketplace to understand the emerging opportunities & problems, and find innovative solutions to broaden the market.

Qualifications:

• In depth knowledge of the Solar PV industry and systems design is critical
• Experience working with Product Development, Sales and Customers to define new products, features and functionality based on market needs
• Must have experience working with customers on technical issues
• Must have strong background in Renewable Energy (solar) systems involving batteries
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Ability to write technical literature including data sheets, PowerPoint presentations, technical articles etc
• Ability to write clear market-driven product requirements
• Knowledge of electrical design and lab test equipment as well as a basic understanding of chemistry and mechanics
• Bachelors Degree (Engineering preferred)
• 7 years Renewable Energy (solar) application experience
• 2 years battery experience
• 3 years previous experience in technical training
• NABCEP a plus
• Proficient in English, strong Spanish speaking and cultural skills a big plus. Must be an excellent communicator functionally, conversationally and persuasively (presentations, etc.).
• Must be proficient in technical writing
• Must have the highest standards of business and personal integrity
• Ability to work independently
• Regular (25%) travel including international travel
