Position Overview:

To oversee the day-to-day operations for a variety of public relations accounts. This Public Relations Account Supervisor will serve as the day-to-day to a variety of high-profile consumer and social marketing clients. This position provides comprehensive account service to the public relations department for all functions necessary to daily operations and must be willing to assist with all administrative functions and allied duties.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for preparing a variety of written communication on behalf of clients including press releases, monthly newsletters, conference reports and other internal and external materials as needed
  • Responsible for overseeing media contact lists and press materials including press kits, media training binders and other materials as needed
  • Proactively pitch client and agency news stories to local and national print and broadcast media outlets
  • Work with account executives to meet client objectives and provide clients with positive ROI
  • Work cooperatively with all levels of staff and management

Qualifications: 

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations or related field
  • Agency or in-house public relations/communications experience preferred
  • 5 -7 years experience in a high energy, fast paced public relations position
  • Experience with managing budgets
  • Experience with supervising staff
  • On top of all Social Media/Networking platforms and trends

Skills / Abilities:

  • Excellent Communication skills (written, verbal & interpersonal)
  • Experience pitching stories/contacting print and broadcast media outlets
  • Experience developing and executing original public relations and grassroots campaigns
  • Experience drafting press releases and other client correspondence
  • Must be highly organized, detail orientated, motivated and "able to hit the ground running"
  • Experience with computer programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point , Bacons and / or other PR related software
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Ability to multi-task, work well under pressure and deadlines
  • Able to work on strategic development plans
  • Must be passionate about environmental issues, recycling and related social causes
