Position Overview:

This position is responsible for managing and performing the day-to-day underwriting and monitoring of loans and equity investments in Opportunity Finance Network's Financing Fund. Opportunity Finance Network has a portfolio of approximately $50 million in loans and equity investments outstanding to Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) and project-based real estate loans in participation with other CDFIs, which will continue to grow. 

The essential functions of the Loan Analyst-Senior Associate are: (a) Managing the new business and the loan monitoring pipelines to ensure timely and appropriate risk management activities in accordance with OFN's policies and procedures; (b) performing the financial analysis and preparing credit writeups, and supporting the activities of the Investment Committee under the guidance of the EVP, Financial Services; and (c) supporting the department in executing regular and periodic risk management and review activities.

Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare full financial analysis and complete loan write-ups for presentation to Investment Committee
  2. Support Investment Committee activities including meetings scheduling and notification, preparation and distribution of Investment Committee meeting packages, documentation and filing of minutes
  3. Support EVP, Financial Services in closing and documentation of loans
  4. Maintain accurate, complete and up-to-date files and records  
  5. Independently schedule, manage and perform loan monitoring activities to meet all internal and external requirements and timelines.
  6. Support EVP, Financial Services with the execution of regular and periodic portfolio monitoring, loan tracking, covenant compliance and risk management activities as required

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor's Degree or 9 years work experience
  2. Experience in financial statements analysis and credit underwriting required
  3. Experience in business lending required; experience in lending to financial and/or non-profit institutions will be an advantage

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements:

  1. Knowledge of Accounting required
  2. Superior analytical and organizational skills required
  3. Superior written and verbal communication skills required with emphasis on clarity, conciseness and relevance
  4. Ability to understand financial statements in order to perform credit and financial underwriting is required
  5. Ability to understanding accounting and financial statement presentation in order to spread financial statement according to OFN format is required
  6. Ability to understand loan documentation is required
  7. Superior interpersonal skills and ability to work well with diverse constituents is required
  8. Knowledge of and commitment to community development preferred
  9. Proficient with MS Office Products/Internet is required
  10. Ability to work independently or in team environment as required
  11. Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and efficiently under minimal supervision
  12. Some travel required (5-10% of time)
  13. No extraordinary physical requirements beyond ability to travel. 
  14. Job involves normal physical requirements for an office position. EOE/ADA Compliant
