REpower - founded in 2001 and listed on the stock exchange just one year later - focuses on the development, production and installation of multi-megawatt wind turbines. The product portfolio comprises several types of turbines with rated outputs ranging between 2 and 6.15 megawatts. To date, the third-largest wind turbine producer in Germany can call on the production, projecting and construction experience gained for almost 2,000 turbine projects. REpower's 1.5-megawatt MD 70/77 series, in particular, set new standards and became one of the most successful turbines in its class. The company's 2-megawatt MM 70/82/92 series, launched in 2002 and now in production, has been similarly successful on the market.
Position Overview:
The Safety and Health Manager is responsible to plan, implement and coordinate the company's environmental, health and safety programs to eliminate occupational accidents/illnesses and assure environmental compliance with Federal, State and local laws. Provide guidance and training to management, staff, and field personnel in regards to all applicable OSHA, EPA and regulatory agencies.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the EHS system and program in compliance with Federal, State and local regulatory requirements
- Develop methods to evaluate safety program, coordinate comprehensive injury/incident analysis and facilitate development of safety improvement plans
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external resources such as fire departments, HAZMAT emergency response units, contractors and internal response teams to share information and ensure it is accurately communicated to all affected stake holders, and obtain and provide mutual assistance for emergency situations
- Responsible for regulatory filings for OSHA, EPA and other agencies.
- Collect, analyze and report environmental data to all affected stakeholders, including management, operations employees, and appropriate external agencies
- Develop, implement, and facilitate all new employee Health and Safety training
- Provide training and safety oversight for Wind Energy Converter Erection, Commissioning and Operations.
- Lead emergency response drills of all sites, assess performance and develop and implement improvements
- Participates in investigating all accidents resulting in recordable, lost time injuries or major property, liability or equipment damage; produces investigative reports
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree Required with 5+ years experience in the Wind Industry or Equivalent
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent designation
- Proficiency in MS Office Suites
- Excellent Time Management and Organizational Skills
- Demonstrated ability to be innovative, initiate and manage change, and deliver effective results
- Ability to travel to Germany
- Ability to travel up to 75%
