Civic Works, Baltimore's urban service corps and an AmeriCorps program, was founded in 1993. Our mission is to build a future for Baltimore's youth through community service and skills development. Since its inception, Civic Works has trained and assisted more than 2500 Baltimore area participants in performing community service projects, developing job readiness and life skills, and finding employment.

Position Overview: 

The Civic Works Green Jobs VISTA will work to expand the capacity of 2 existing green collar job training programs.  Specifically, the VISTA will utilize her/his ability to forge new relationships and nurture existing relationships with stakeholders in Baltimore committed to a green economy.  The VISTA will work cooperatively with the Project manager to realize Civic Works' green collar job training goals and objectives.  The VISTA will work with the Project Manager and assembled stakeholders to create a comprehensive curriculum to prepare entry level energy efficiency and renewable energy workers. The VISTA will be involved in recruiting an instructor to implement the curriculum.

Qualifications:      

• The ideal candidate will recognize problems but will focus on cooperative solutions.
• The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills.
• The ideal candidate will be willing to complete a variety of tasks (both glamorous and mundane) for the good of the cause.
• Driver's license and car are required. 
• The ideal candidate will have a desire to make a difference and the follow through to make it happen.
