Description
Green Plains Renewable Energy, Inc. (stock symbol: GPRE), is currently seeking a Plant Manager to work at our Obion, Tennessee ethanol facility. The facility began operation in November 2008 and has a nameplate capacity of 100 MMGPY.
Position Overview:
The Plant Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing activities at the plant level: operations, maintenance, laboratory, raw material and finished goods logistics.
Responsibilities:
- Direct, coordinate, and oversee all plant operations within company policies and procedures, and ensure tasks are completed as assigned.
- Foster a well trained and motivated staff by monitoring individual performance and providing specific feedback to employees regarding their strengths and areas for development. Document observations and feedback.
- Organize projects to be completed on scheduled shutdowns.
- Champion the culture of challenge and candid feedback among all employees.
- Ensure the plant is in compliance with all city, county, state, and federal regulations.
- Develop an operations-led organization that incorporates an atmosphere of teamwork among all departments.
- Respond to plant emergencies and issues 24/7.
- Strive for maximum efficiency in plan operations and strive to reduce down time.
- Ensure initiatives and results are thoroughly documented and shared with all Green Plains plants.
- Oversee quality control processes and procedures to ensure that final products meet specification requirements.
- Facilitate communication between departments and shifts.
- Approve hiring of plant personnel and oversee training of employees to run the plant effectively.
- Build and maintain good vendor relations.
- Communicate with and report to the local General Manager and the EVP of Plant Operations.
- Report to Shareholders and Board of Directors upon request.
- Establish and maintain a positive community relationship.
Qualifications:
- B.S. or greater with experience in related field.
- Previous management experience in a related field.
- 5 years processing/production experience.
- Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) and Management of Change preferred.
- Facility with Root Cause Analysis and investigation of significant plant events preferred.
- Ethanol experience in an ICM setting will be given preference.
