Standards and Services Associate

B CorporationsTM are a new type of corporation which uses the power of business to solve social and environmental problems. B CorporationsTM meet high performance and legal standards and build collective voice through the power of the unifying B Corporation brand. As of June 2009, there are over 200 certified B Corporations, representing a diverse $1B marketplace. B Lab is the non-profit organization which certifies, promotes, and supports B CorporationsTM.

Position Overview:

Grow the community and marketplace of B Corporations. Maintain and strengthen connections and relationships among current B Corporations.

Responsibilities:

• Grow the community of B Corporations from 200 to 400 B Corporations and the marketplace from $1B to $3B in the next 24 months;
• Strengthen relationships and connectivity within the B Corporation Community; and
• Support development of the B Ratings System by:
  • engaging existing B Corporations in the B Community through maintenance of online community, educational updates, and newsletters
  • managing web content for bcorporation.net (specifically Community, Partner, and Media pages)
  • assisting newly certified B Corporations through the process of integrating into the B Community, co-branding, etc.
  • managing partnerships with sustainable business associations and service partners (i.e SVN, BALLE Green America, Investors' Circle, 1% for the Planet, ICIC, etc)
  • supporting standards team through beta testing and implementation of new versions of the B Ratings System
  • assisting interested companies through the process of learning about and becoming a B Corporation

Internal and External Contacts:

Internal: B Lab Partners and team

External: Existing and potential B Corporations; B Corp Community, Service, Capital, Media, and Supply Chain Partners.

Accountability: Report to Vice President of Services

Qualifications:

• Passion for using business to solve social and environmental problems
• High energy, self-managing, entrepreneurial personality
• Strong relationship-building, communications, and organizational skills
• 3-5 years experience in business, preferably in a role which required managing external relationships
• Facility with Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Mac equivalents; Adobe Acrobat, Salesforce.com or other CRM software

Compensation: $30-$50k plus benefits depending upon experience
