Senior Electrical Engineer, Product Development

Konarka is developing solar materials that are lightweight, flexible and more versatile than traditional solar materials.  This new breed of coatable, flexible, plastic photovoltaics can be used in a wide range of applications where traditional photovoltaics cannot compete.  Konarka's technical advances will expand the relevance of solar technology across product lines, as well as across geographic divides, providing lower cost energy wherever it is needed.  

Position Overview:

Build, validate and test prototype products incorporating photovoltaic devices for consumer, industrial and government applications.

Responsibilities: 

• Develop prototype products and design building blocks to provide reference designs for photovoltaic-based applications.
• Work with customers on product design.
• Provide documentation suitable for regulatory approvals (UL, CSA, etc.) and customer operations.

Qualifications: 

Required:

• BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent and 5-10 of relevant experience. Advanced degree preferred.
• Experience in product development involving design of electronic circuits, including DC-DC conversion, DC power regulation, DC-AC conversion, etc.
• 5-7 years of experience in solar/photovoltaics.
• Strong communication skills and experience interacting with customers.

Preferred:

• Experience in analog and digital design.
• Experience with AC grid connected applications including DC-AC conversion, use and selection of inverters, connectors and busses meeting code for specific applications.
