Responsibilities:
Responsible for developing, planning, preparing and monitoring environmental studies and reports for assigned projects; developing, implementing, and managing air, water quality, hazardous waste, and toxic substance compliance programs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in physical or biological sciences or related area, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- 2 1/2 - 8 years of related experience in environmental compliance and/or planning, including 1 year of experience in a lead or coordinator role.
- Working knowledge of National Environmental Policy Act and related Executive Orders regarding environmental planning associated with construction projects.
- Working knowledge of Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA), Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA), Hazardous Materials Transportation Act (HMTA), Safe Drinking Water Act, Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act, Oil Pollution Act, and the Pollution Prevention Act.
- Physical ability to make field inspections.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, particularly with regulatory agencies.
- Working knowledge of the PC and corresponding business software, including word processing and spreadsheets.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships.
- Willingness to travel up to 25 percent of the time on an annual basis.
- General knowledge of RUS policy requirements, desired.
- Public speaking skills, desired.
