Portland Energy Conservation, Inc. (PECI) is a nonprofit corporation with a twenty-five year history developing and implementing innovative approaches to energy and resource efficiency. We offer our local and national clients a unique combination of expert research, program design, and on-the-ground delivery.  We are growing and have exciting opportunities for individuals who have a passion for learning and want to make an impact working within the energy efficiency market.  This open position will oversee PECI's commissioning business.

Position Overview:

PECI has a long history in the commissioning industry. Our current commissioning work includes large-scale implementation programs, technical research projects, curriculum development and training, conferences and management of industry organizations, with particular focus on large commercial buildings. PECI is seeking a proven business builder who will oversee and grow these existing activities.   The right person will be highly entrepreneurial with a proven ability to create, launch and manage new opportunities, manage key partnerships and client relationships, negotiate multi-year contracts, and manage a seasoned team of program managers, researchers, and analysts.  This position requires considerable experience in business management and development as well as providing mentorship and guidance to staff members.

The ideal candidate will understand the energy efficiency and/or commissioning industries and have a strong operational and consulting background, with an ability to manage details and build relationships throughout the industry.  Strong candidates will have demonstrated technical acumen and management experience that includes an understanding of what is needed to create change in the industry.  The selected candidate must have experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.  This position provides a distinct opportunity to apply your experience with an organization that is on the forefront of the energy efficiency movement.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee PECI's existing Cx program, research and outreach work.
  • Oversee the development of a new Cx training program.
  • Interact with utility clients and agencies to promote commissioning activities.
  • Provide leadership to the group by participation in on-going company-wide strategic development.
  • Identify key business opportunities and develop successful strategies to pursue them. Identify partners/alliances/opportunities to expand growth.
  • Oversee program and project revenue goals and forecast revenue and expense streams.
  • Represent PECI at relevant conferences, events and forums.

Qualifications:

  • Commissioning and/or energy efficiency experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience participating in large scale energy efficiency research and/or program implementation preferred.
  • Proven entrepreneurial leadership ability in managing large, complex teams with multiple high-quality deliverables.
  • Robust communicator and relationship management abilities with multiple types of clients, partners, stakeholders and staff. Skilled at presenting complex information to all audiences.
  • Developed talent as an imaginative, resourceful and strategic thinker.
  • Strong organizational and adaptive management skills.
  • 10+ years experience with contract, budget and resource management of multiple large programs.
