Green America is a nonprofit, membership organization whose mission is to harness economic power - the strength of consumers, investors, businesses and the marketplace - to create a socially just and environmentally sustainable society.
Position Overview:
We are looking for dynamic individuals to join our Summer Internship Program. Internships are available in:
Advertising: Work with Green Businesses to sell and place ads in the National Green PagesTM and Green American.
Green Business Listing: Gain an intimate understanding of what makes a business "green" and put your knowledge to use working on our green business directory, the National Green PagesTM.
Green Festival: Assist with the planning of the Washington, DC Green FestivalTM--part of the largest sustainability events in the world (www.greenfestivals.org).
Fair Trade: Research the availability of Fair Trade items in the US, assist in organizing Green America's Fair Trade programming at the fall Green FestivalTM and develop actions for Fair Trade Activists across the country.
Online Outreach: Use your web-skills to advance Green America's mission by communicating with relevant bloggers, maintaining our presence on social networking sites, and building relationships with online communications staff at other non-profits.
Publications: Use your writing skills to spread the green word in our publications: National Green PagesTM, Green American, and Real Green.
Responsible Shopper: Help consumers shop right by researching and profiling the social and environmental responsibility of large corporations through our website.
