Description
The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), Office of Coastal Zone Management, seeks a qualified applicant to assist in implementing and administering the Virginia Coastal Zone Management Program.
Responsibilities:
This position assists with policy development, grant activities, program evaluation, intergovernmental coordination and program updates. Management topics include nonpoint source pollution, land conservation and acquisition, public access, fisheries management, habitat management, energy issues and impacts of coastal growth and development.
Qualifications:
Qualifications include broad knowledge of government agencies' laws and programs, and coastal environmental science. Applicants should be able to analyze and provide recommendations on complex programs and to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to facilitate stakeholder meetings.
Applicants should have experience in contract/grant negotiations, project and budget management and administration, and teamwork principles. Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, and manage program area functions; experience with personal computers, automated databases, and Microsoft Office Suite software. An advanced degree in environmental planning or management or equivalent training/experience is preferred.
Compensation: Minimum Starting Salary: $40,959
