River Partners is a private, nonprofit corporation located in Chico, California. River Partners' mission is to create wildlife habitat for the benefit of people and the environment.
Position Overview:
Deputy Western Director will support company executive staff to develop, fund and implement successful riparian habitat projects in watersheds throughout River Partners operating area.
Responsibilities:
- Working with River Partners senior management to develop, secure, negotiate, manage and administer grants, cooperative agreements, contracts, and budgets
- Work in concert with a multi-disciplinary team, including but not limited to restoration ecology staff, field operation managers, accounting department and development department to meet River Partners' annual objectives
- Coordinate with agency staff and conservation partners in the successful implementation of River Partners projects
- Represent River Partners before the general public, elected officials, agencies, stakeholders, and non-profits to generate support for River Partners programs
- Identify and secure public and private funding
- (+/-) 20% travel or as needed to meet organizational objectives
- Work long hours and/or weekends during peak seasons
- Other duties as required
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 7 years experience in habitat restoration, conservation, agriculture management or related fields
- The ability to self-start and work with teams and/or independently on a wide variety of site assessments, proposals and project management tasks
- Demonstrated competency in public and private fundraising including grant and contract writing experience
- Ability to represent River Partners to a broad spectrum of NGO, advocacy, community groups, governmental institutions, and elected officials
- Experience and aptitude to manage a diverse team of science and business professionals
- Significant experience in project development including state and federal permitting and regulatory compliance
- Experience in conservation land deals
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Skilled team leader & manager
- Commitment and enthusiasm to carry out River Partners' mission
Education: JD, MBA, MPA or MS in related field.
Term: This is a full-time position beginning immediately.
