The U.S. Green Building Council, a Washington, DC-based national nonprofit organization of over 17,000 corporate and organizational members from every sector of the building industry united to transform the building marketplace to sustainability, is currently seeking an experienced professional to work with a variety of projects in the Education and Research department.

Position Overview: 

The Education Resources Coordinator will provide support and oversight on a variety of projects including the development and delivery of the LEED Reference Guides. The LEED Reference Guides provide technical guidance on using the LEED Rating Systems for building projects. They include detailed information on the LEED credit requirements, reference standards, certification process and implementation strategies. This position will assist with general project management for the Education and Research department as well as take on additional special projects as needed.

Primary responsibility includes day-to-day management and oversight of production, fulfillment, and customer service needs. This position will work closely with vendors and many departments within USGBC and reports directly to the Director of Education Programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Management
    • Manage vendor contract for Reference Guide fulfillment
    • Act as point of contact for all vendor related issues within USGBC
  • Maintenance and Monitoring
    • Liaison with USGBC departments including Communications, Community, and LEED as needed
    • Monitor Reference Guide sales trends and determine quantity for reprints
    • Oversee review of proofs and copy editing
    • Manage ordering and printing
    • Generate financial reports
  • Material Management - Hire and manage vendor contracts to create, assemble, and edit Reference Guides.
    • Investigate new and improved delivery formats for Reference Guide content including hard copy, online and subscription options
    • Review fulfillment options for international orders
  • Customer Service - Manage phone and email inquiries regarding Reference Guides and general USGBC programs.
    • Process bulk orders and student discounts
    • Create and maintain contracts with high volume customers
    • Listen and guide interested customers on Reference Guide purchases
    • Assist customers with refunds, incorrect shipments, and expedited shipping through our SAP software system and by working with our finance department and fulfillment vendor
    • Track customer service issues and propose process improvements
  • Documentation Management - Monitor and oversee sales order reports.
  • Accounting - Track and manage outstanding invoices to ensure timely payment and generate financial reports as needed.
  • Accept additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Education Programs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum 2-3 years experience in a professional work environment
  • Experience handling publications development, production and fulfillment
  • Environmental, education and/or building industry experience desired
  • Ability to work well independently and as a member of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Financial management and reporting experience
  • Excellent customer service, written communication and editing skills
  • Deadline-oriented, multi-tasking
  • Strong Computer skills including demonstrated proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database management
  • Commitment to USGBC mission
