EnerNOC, Inc. is a Boston-based provider of energy software, data communications, and packaged managed services to commercial, industrial, and institutional clients. We enable energy users to reduce their demand for electricity during periods of peak demand or supply shortfalls to create a more robust and reliable electricity grid, and get paid for doing so - a strategy called Demand Response. 

Position Overview:

EnerNOC has an immediate need for an Application Support Analyst, working in the Network Operations Center (NOC).  The mission of the Network Operation Center is to provide capacity to the grid by reducing customers' electricity consumption on an emergency basis. 

The Applications Support Analyst works closely with the Operations and Software Engineering departments. The Applications Support Analyst will provide internal user support and will contribute to the requirements definition for PowerTrak, EnerNOC's energy management software.

A successful candidate will have a passion for the energy industry, superior user support skills, and thrive in a fast paced software development environment. This opportunity will give the Applications Support Analyst great exposure to implementing alternative energy solutions in the field, developing cutting edge software solutions in-house, and supporting a first class Network Operations Center.

Responsibilities:

Application Support:

  • Answer PowerTrak usage questions from both local and remote employees
  • Troubleshoot and escalate data quality issues
  • Analyze solutions to problems with Software Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Users

Training:

  • Train new users on PowerTrak
  • Evaluate training needs and develop training materials, where appropriate

Requirements Definition:

  • Make recommendations for product enhancements
  • Assist in requirements gathering and definition for major software releases
  • Review and test new releases to ensure that user needs are met
  • Assist in the prioritization of defects and enhancements

Qualifications: 

Required:

  • BA/BS in Business, Operations Research, Computer Science, Economics or other analytic field
  • A minimum of one year in IT, software development, support or similar experience
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Must utilize these skills to communicate effectively across all groups in the organization
  • Strong teamwork and negotiation skills. Demonstrated ability to help teams reach a consensus.
  • Ability to apply creativity and objectivity to design and suggest solutions to real business problems
  • Self-motivation with the ability to work in a fast paced, forward moving environment
  • Ability to work with business users and software development personnel in a team environment
  • Desire to learn new technologies and business details

Desired:

  • Experience with software development life cycle
  • Experience with energy management and technology
  • Experience defining and supporting homegrown application software packages
  • Passion for energy management and environmental conservation
  • Working knowledge of SQL
  • Experience in Sarbanes-Oxley compliance

Other Requirements and Characteristics:

  • Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts; driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
  • Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
