This company is building an information platform and suite of tools to provide people with detailed information on the environmental, social, and health impacts of products and companies, and to empower them to make decisions which better match their values.
We are a "for benefit" startup working to integrate science, technology, and consumer research to empower consumers around the world. Our tools seek to transform how people see and interact with products and companies by delivering comprehensive and rigorous information at the point of purchase.
Position Overview:
The Director of Research will help us refine and expand a new system for evaluating the environmental, social, and health performance of products.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the development and refinement of our evaluation and rating methodologies
• Identify and evaluate key impact categories for different product categories and assist in the development of product and company ratings that aggregate and weight performance data
• Coordinate methods development with the research team and consultants
• Assist in the development of user-friendly presentations of complex data
• Engage external stakeholders, including academics, NGOs, government officials and industry
Qualifications:
• 5+ years of experience conducting research
• Superior analytical prowess to distill complex data into user-friendly information
• Experience with some or all of the following research methods: corporate social responsibility ratings, socially responsible investment research and ratings, health hazard assessment, social impact assessment, or multi-attribute decision analysis;
• Strong research management and multi-tasking capabilities with the ability to work well under pressure in a deadline driven environment
• Willingness to tackle complex technical problems with rigorous, but flexible methods
• Creative thinker and problem solver who applies science to solving real-world problems
• PhD desirable
Compensation: Starting 90k salary or commensurate with experience.
