Dominican University of California, a leader in higher education in the San Francisco Bay Area located in Marin County, will launch an environmental sustainability certificate program this fall.
Dominican will offer a multi-discipline certificate program for non-degree seeking, Bay Area adults to enter or transition into an environmental career or simply to green their existing business practice and to differentiate themselves within their field.
This program will draw from Dominican course offerings in Professional and Continuing Education to provide a core background in environmental issues as well as elective courses and workshops by area partner institutions, selected by the enrollees to suit their individual interests.
Position Overview:
To help launch this innovative program, Dominican University is seeking a motivated, outgoing, and well-organized project manager to oversee the pilot cohort this September and build the program towards long-term sustainability.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to get in on the ground level and have a direct role in shaping a new sustainability program in the Bay Area. The program manager will be the key staff person working with students, instructors, and community educational providers to realize the program's goals.
Responsibilities:
Outreach:
- Manage publicity, promote program in different venues
- Actively identify and contact target audience populations; present at meetings, conferences, etc.
- Mailing list and distribution channel management
- Write and circulate email announcements
- Website updates
Administration:
- Instructor/Contract Management: creating contracts, HR/Payroll process, follow-up on return, process payment.
- Venue Management: Book and confirm seminar venues, request classrooms and follow-up until assigned and confirmed, verify technology requirement against room capability
- Manage certificate registrations
- Update revenue projection sheet - before and after programs occur
- Facilitate Advisory Board Meeting(s) - book venue and catering, confirm attendees
- Work closely with Director of Professional and Continuing Education
Student Support:
- Primary contact for Certificate students
- Process student registration forms
- Conduct intake interviews
- Work with students to set-up electives schedule
- Draft student materials as needed
Course Support:
- Assist in instructor searches
- Act as primary contact for instructors and electives providers
- Communicate and collaborate with SEI for internship and capstone project
- Write and submit documents as needed for grant applications
Electives Management:
- Maintain contact with current electives providers and keep up to date listings of their programs
- Generate and manage contract process with new elective program providers
- Maintain current inventory of "elective" program provider promotional materials.
The program manager reports directly to the Director of the Professional and Continuing Education program.
Qualifications:
- Strong organizational and communication skills required
- Basic computer skills required
- Experience and/or degree in environmental studies preferred.
- Administrative experience preferred
- Teaching / curriculum development experience a plus
Compensation: At present, this is a 20 hr/week position at $17/hour.
