Lab Technician

Direct Fuels is one of North Texas' largest independent regional fuel distributors and specialty refiners, serving the Dallas-Ft. Worth area supplying conventional, non-reformulated, gasoline and diesel fuels.

Position Overview:

The Lab technician performs multiple functions at this inland fuel services facility. Lab provides service for all facility operations (fuel processing, transmix, biodiesel) 

Responsibilities:

• Process product samples, perform analytical testing using instruments and chemistry techniques
• Accurately record results in data systems
• Testing of materials and adhering to quality standards and meeting specifications
• Release finished products in a timely manner
• Operating and trouble-shooting analytical test equipment
• Processing samples from trucks (ensuring product meets specifications outlined)
• Recording and testing line samples taken from process unit
• Maintaining laboratory instruments and managing calibration/maintenance program
• Diligently follows all safety requirements to prevent product contamination, spills and avoid product loss.
• Maintain location appearance, repair and replace equipment in order to maintain exemplary compliance standards
• General maintenance and housekeeping responsibilities 

Qualifications:

• B.S. in Chemistry desired
• Relevant experience with biodiesel fuel processing or chemical refinery, a plus
• Lab experience and basic computer skills
• Mathematical and analytical skills
• Knowledge and ability to retain various procedures for a variety of tests
• Pleasant and professional demeanor with internal/external entities
• Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solving skills
• Ability to multi-task within department for instruction and direction
• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, phone) 

This is a 365-day operating facility. Must be flexible and able to work various shifts that may include nights, weekends and/or holidays. Must be available to work overtime as necessary. Experience in fuel processing, pipeline, biodiesel fuel processing or chemical refinery, a plus.
