Position Overview:

Design, Community & Environment is seeking applicants for an Associate or Senior Associate Comprehensive Planner with proven project management skills, staff management experience, and strong quality control capabilities.  Experience in California General Plan practice is required for this position. 

Responsibilities:

Associates at DC&E are responsible for managing comprehensive planning projects in a collaborative environment.  Strong applicants for this position will have the ability to manage projects with minimal oversight.  Specific roles and responsibilities include:

  • Schedule and budget management
  • Technical subconsultant coordination and management
  • Client communications and management
  • Staff guidance and management
  • Research, writing and editing of planning documents such as existing conditions reports,  General Plans, Specific Plans, and project proposals
  • Knowledge of California planning law, professional practice, and technical methodologies
  • Public presentations
  • Meeting facilitation.

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must be able to work in Microsoft Word and Excel and to produce professionally formatted documents and presentations in PowerPoint and Adobe CS2. 
  • An ability to work with GIS in a planning framework is strongly desired.  
  • California General Plan Housing Element and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) experience is desirable but not required.
