Position Overview: 

This role is a rotational and broadening assignment (12-18 months) for a marketing professional reporting to the Worldwide Environment, Health, & Safety Department (WWEHS) at Johnson & Johnson (J&J) WHQ. 

Environmental sustainability and product stewardship is playing a greater role in the design, production, sales and marketing of consumer products.  Consumers and retailers are increasingly demanding products that use less packaging, less energy, and safer materials.

This new role will translate the value of J&J's environmental stewardship and EHS success in ways that J&J's trade customer and consumers will understand, helping to realize greater value in the marketplace. 

The position will:

1) provide focused support to designated consumer brands interested in enhancing their stewardship in the areas of environment and human health and safety; and

2) seek and implement opportunities to leveraging knowledge, tools, and learnings across other J&J  brands and business sectors. 

The position will assist in translating and sharing marketing fundamentals within the EHS group to increase the group's reach and effectiveness.

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide input and direction to WWEHS staff regarding integration of EHS into brand marketing strategies.
  • Develop tools to assist sales & marketing professionals with understanding sustainability and communicating about sustainability with customers.
  • Scan external environment for trends in customer expectations for sustainable products/share key customer insights with appropriate brand directors.
  • Scan external environment for market and competitor trends in the green marketing space.
  • Develop targeted messaging to communicate sustainability initiatives. 
  • Attend and proactively participate in professional conventions/trade shows/meetings/other to gain further insight into business growth opportunities.
  • Represent J&J at external trade organizations in the sustainable brands marketing space.
  • Executes, monitors and evaluates marketing tactics to deliver business objectives.
  • Conducts market analyses and monitors competitive activity to define opportunities.
  • Leads the design and execution of product packaging graphics changes.
  • Consult with OpCo marketing groups on potential new ‘green"  product concepts.
  • Monitors and controls departmental marketing budget.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in marketing or a business related field is required. An MBA is strongly preferred. 
  • A minimum of 3 years of marketing and/or consumer packaged goods business experience is required.
  • This position requires a highly motivated individual with strong analytical and interpersonal skills, the ability to partner and motivate effectively across functions and levels, proven marketing/consumer curiosity, and the leadership skills that would enable pursuit of every project with enthusiasm. 
  • Strong business analytics, consumer insights development and understanding of core marketing levers are desired. 
  • Candidates must have good communication and negotiation skills, be able to work in a team environment, and be customer/market oriented.  Must possess demonstrated leadership and delivery of consistently strong results. 
  • This position requires up to 20% international / domestic travel.
