Term of Service: June 2, 2008 - November 15, 2008
The AmeriCorps Resource Management Monitoring project will provide key oversight of resource management on at-risk federal lands. The Resource Management Monitor will visit timber sales and grazing units to monitor how federal guidelines and policies are followed, and will provide documentation of adherence or infringement. In addition the project involves education & outreach to our members, community groups and the general public on these same issues.
Responsibilities include:
- Pertaining to grazing units, the member will provide forage assessment, fencing check, water development and protection verification.
- Regarding timber sales, provide erosion assessment, road construction check, stream buffer verification.
- Research literature in professional journals on grazing and timber issues.
- Write articles describing the project for the HCPC membership newsletter and our website, along with presentations to various audiences on the issues.
- Attend NWSA orientation, submit monthly paperwork and attend required trainings.
