GreenShape, a nationally recognized green building and sustainability consulting firm based in Washington, DC, guides building owners, developers, and design and construction teams in the creation of buildings, programs and education for sustainable living. We have helped over a 100 project teams set high green building performance goals and create a legacy of excellence through their work.
Responsibilities
As a GreenShape Project Manager, you will work on multiple public- and private-sector projects including commercial office buildings, schools, multi-unit residential and mixed-use projects, building modernizations, and neighborhood development projects.
You will guide building owners and design and construction project teams in applying green building concepts and technologies to their projects and support building owners in developing programs and policies for sustainable operations.
You will participate in and lead green building charrettes, manage client communications and project schedules and provide guidance to support our clients as they create drawings and specifications incorporating green building strategies. You will advise our clients' construction teams on LEED-related activities and manage the documentation of green building accomplishments.
Qualifications
We seek an experienced and motivated professional with 5-10 years of relevant green building experience in the field of architecture, engineering, facilities management, construction management or urban planning to support our expanding green building and corporate sustainability consulting practice.
Applicants for the Project Manager position should hold a Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Construction Management, Architecture, Urban Planning, Environmental Policy, or other related fields, have knowledge of and experience with green building strategies and systems, be LEED Accredited and demonstrate a history of commitment to sustainability.
We are hiring for multiple positions and are especially interested in speaking with candidates who are familiar with LEED with the following focus:
- Facilities management or environmental background to help organizations evaluate their buildings and craft programs and policies for sustainable operations and maintenance using the LEED EB/OM rating system.
- Experience in mechanical engineering or architecture and a commitment to guiding interdisciplinary teams in holistic green building strategies.
- Construction management background interested in guiding the implementation of LEED green buildings before and during construction.
We are looking for a team-oriented individual with strong professional, organizational and interpersonal skills who is skilled at managing people, capable of organizing large amounts of information and able to maintain a positive, flexible attitude. Candidates should have the desire and ability to explain green building and sustainability concepts to building development professionals and laypersons.
Candidates should have experience managing multiple projects, including one or more projects that pursued LEED certification. The position requires knowledge of green building materials, systems, planning, design, construction, operations and maintenance processes. Applicants should have strong written and verbal communication skills, be comfortable using current software technology including MS Excel and ideally MS Project, and have proven experience facilitating meetings and delivering presentations.
