The U.S. Green Building Council, a Washington, DC-based national nonprofit organization of over 11,000 corporate and organizational members from every sector of the building industry united to transform the building marketplace to sustainability, is currently seeking a energetic and an organized professional with the experience to effectively provide support to the Board of Directors, including the Executive Committee and all other general board committees.

The Board Communications Coordinator is responsible for coordination and communication between U.S. Green Building Council's Board of Directors and its staff, and vice versa.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Managing all staff-to-board and board-to-staff communication
  • Managing the setup and preparation, both technically and logistically, of in-person and conference call meetings, and assisting in general meeting management
  • Handle development and management of board website, including collecting content and developing presentation
  • Handle record-keeping in close collaboration with board secretary and board committee chairs
  • Support agenda-setting in close collaboration with CEO, executive staff and board chair
  • Attending all board and Executive Committee meetings
  • Coordinating all board-related activities
  • Managing board-related content on USGBC website
  • Coordinating board members' involvement in other areas of organization
  • Work with governance, accounting, committees, other areas as required through fulfillment of board-related coordination
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years experience in non-profit communications and administration
  • Experience working with a board of directors preferred
  • Experience working with nonprofit governance and committees
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Interest in nonprofit governance preferred
  • Familiarity with Roberts Rules of Order and Dynamic Governance preferred
  • Proficiency in html preferred
