Description
RCPA is a non-profit conservation advocacy group that protects New York State's 6-million acre Adirondack Park. RCPA works on forest conservation, land protection, water quality monitoring, and wilderness management issues. RCPA uses litigation, education, advocacy, and FSC-certification as tools to meet its mission. RCPA has 3,800 members predominantly from within the Park.
Responsibilities
- Participate in policy development, representing the membership and stakeholder outreach
- Support RCPA's engagement in litigation involving proposed development, emerging policy initiatives, and challenges to environmental impact assessments
- Provide oversight to the Adirondack Lakes Assessment Program
- Represent RCPA in discussions of the North Country National Scenic Trail, Forest Preserve Unit Management Plans, and as part of the Forest Preserve Advisory Council
- Support fundraising from member-donors and foundations
- Oversee new member recruitment
- Conduct necessary research
- Regular travel is required
Qualifications
Successful candidates will possess the following characteristics:
- Requires 3-5 years of post-graduate experience
- A graduate degree is preferred, but not required
- Must be articulate and confident public speaker
- Exceptional writing skills are required
- Ability to navigate complex political dynamics is required
- Familiarity with Adirondack Park issues is preferred
- Must be willing to live in Adirondack Park
Salary and Benefits: Salary is to be determined, but will be consistent with experience and with comparable non-profit roles. Generous health benefits and a retirement package are included.
