The Brookings Institution seeks to fill a Senior Policy Analyst, Climate Change, position.  Responsiblities: 

  • Analyzes the current political situation within both the U.S. and international context on climate change policy developments and disseminates ongoing Brookings research to promote actionable policy solutions.
  • Communicates with research community, NGOs, policymakers and external stakeholders to advance Brookings research recommendations.
  • Leads and organizes climate change roundtables, briefings, and events to disseminate conclusions within policy community.
  • Monitors climate change policy efforts and composes short articles and briefs drawing upon prior research and practical knowledge of current developments within climate change field.
  • Works in coordination with Central Communications and Program Director of Communications on development of any congressional outreach strategy and implementation.

Additional Qualifications

A Master's degree is required. Intimate knowledge of climate change policy issues required; 5-7 years research or analysis experience in climate change field, within government and/or within the NGO community required. Knowledge of both U.S. and international policymaking processes as they relate to climate change issues also necessary.

Competence to independently coordinate a policy outreach and analysis program and creativity to take it in new directions. Excellent writing and communication skills. Ability to meet rapid, multiple deadlines in a fast-paced work environment. Professional demeanor and high level of comfort working with high-profile individuals from government/international sector. Ability to work well under pressure with discretion and mature judgment.

Compensation

Excellent benefits include five weeks of vacation per year, partial educational reimbursement, Metrochek. Near Dupont Circle Metro. Salary is commensurate with experience.
