Job Summary:
Life is good, Inc. (Lig) recognizes and is committed to minimizing our impact on the environment, becoming a leader in environmental stewardship and developing, manufacturing and distributing our products in an environmentally responsible manner. To establish and support environmental initiatives, the Environmental Coordinator's role has been developed.
The primary focus of the role will be to gather baseline environmental data; review and recommend improvements in sustainability commitments; develop and report environmental performance indicators; research environmental sustainability programs in the apparel industry world wide and develop professional sustainability contacts throughout industry as we advance in this initiative.
The successful candidate will be a persuasive speaker and presenter and a tireless advocate for the sustainability programs of Lig. This entry level position will provide an opportunity for the right person to establish what is expected to become a key role for the company.
Essential Responsibilities:
* Identify and implement measurable improvements in the following environmental areas: Solid Waste Reduction, Energy Reduction, and Pollution Prevention
* Complete an audit of packaging materials in order to identify opportunities for increasing the percentage of post-consumer recycled content in each packaging product we use
* Establish a baseline for our environmental impact in all areas of our business including our retail stores, GNS's, and Festivals
* Develop a carbon-neutral plan for our Festival Division
* Educate employees on how to introduce environmental- friendly lifestyle activities at home
* Champion the company's recycling programs for all facilities
* Research opportunities for sourcing product that is more environmentally-friendly and make recommendations to the Product Development team
* Responsibilities may be added, deleted or modified in response to business needs
Department: Human Resources; Reports to: Director of Human Resources
Experience and qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in environmental, engineering, or life sciences preferred but not required
* Proven project management skills
* Ability to manage multiple projects independently
* Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Ability to effectively and clearly deliver public presentations
* Must possess successful people and partnering skills to work collaboratively with internal and external constituents
* Desire to be challenged and to grow in this key position
* Strong MS office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
