PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Irvine Nature Center offers environmental field trips for students. Interns are trained to lead groups of pre-K through fifth grade students on nature walks, such as Sensing Nature, Stream Life and Exploring Animals. Programs are hands-on and integrated with the Baltimore County Public Schools science curriculum.
RESPONSIBILITIES
To learn about teaching natural science to children To prepare for and lead field trips for groups of school children at the Center To prepare for and lead programs in Baltimore City and County school classrooms To assist with live animal care and maintenance To complete independent projects and other tasks as needed for the Center
QUALIFICATIONS
Work experience with children Strong interest in the environment and natural history Good communication skills Your own transportation
WHAT WILL I RECEIVE? Training in natural history and teaching techniques Experience teaching children outdoors $8.00/hour
TIME COMMITMENT: 18-30 hours per week (3-5 days per week) Generally 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Weekends also available
