Description
Position:
Brussels representative for European non-profit consumer organization specializing in food safety and agricultural policy.
Responsibilities:
Monitoring food safety and agriculture-related policy developments and events at the European Parliament, Commission and Council. Attending relevant meetings and conferences. Communicating the organization's positions to relevant agencies and officials. Establishing relationships with consumer, food safety, farming and environmental organizations and coalitions. Establishing relationships and communicating with the media.
Requirements:
Education: Minimum of a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in a political discipline.
Knowledge: Strong familiarity with European food safety, consumer protection and agriculture policy, including the CAP, sustainable agricultural and trade. In-depth knowledge of the EU's public policy landscape, including the legislative and regulatory process, public participation and agency structures.
Experience: At least five years of non-profit advocacy work in Europe, preferably with some experience in Brussels.
Skills: Superior verbal and written communication skills. Must be fluent in English. Ability to communicate in French, German, Italian and/or Spanish is a plus but not required.
Terms: Half-time position based in Brussels. Salary based on experience. Occasional travel within Europe.
