We accomplish our mission by moving homeless people from streets and shelters into homes, and by assisting those most vulnerable to homelessness to maintain their housing. We are a 501 (c) 3 not for profit organization established in 1990 with programs in New York City, New York's Hudson Valley, and Connecticut.
Job Description:
Under the direction of the Director of Design + Construction, this positions primary responsibility will be the monitoring of all projects under construction in the New York metropolitan area. He/she will interface with the project architect and lending agency officials, monitor project schedules and assist, as needed, in managing the pre-development process from a design and construction perspective.
Applicant should be able to read and interpret construction documents and verify if building construction is in accordance with the design plans and specifications. Strong knowledge of green design systems a plus. This position will also be responsible for special projects assigned by the Director of NY Housing Development.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of construction/owners representation experience required
- Bachelor's Degree / BARCH required. MARCH preferred
- MS Office with Project skills required
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Desire to build sustainably
- Knowledge/Appreciation of good residential design practices
- Solid understanding of construction means and methods
- Able to provide positive representation of Common Ground to
potential and current stakeholders
Portfolio/work samples should be provided.
This position has a mid-August start date.
