Primary job responsibilities for this position include: 

* working directly with commercial and industrial customers;
* completing site visits;
* collecting building characteristics data;
* identifying efficiency opportunities;
* modeling building resource consumption;
* calculating resource savings and preparing cost estimates; 
* initiating business development opportunities with local utilities and private sector clients;
* performing life cycle cost analysis;
* providing technical assistance to businesses with high potential for water and energy savings; and 
* conducting inventories of carbon and other greenhouse gas emissions. 

Work might also include detailed, measurement-based assessments of water-saving technologies. 

Qualifications include: 

* Mechanical engineering degree or professional engineering designation;
* 5+ years of experience, preferably in the Puget Sound area;
* knowledge of energy and water conservation opportunities and technologies appropriate for large commercial applications;
* ability to articulate cost savings resulting from energy/water conservation initiatives/technologies in terms of payback periods, ROI, and other metrics commonly used to justify capital expenditures by business professionals; 
* proven success securing new business; 
* interest in fostering partnerships and collaboration between Cascadia and engineering firms; 
* Certified Energy Manager (CEM) designation; 
* LEED certification or knowledge; 
* experience working with small and large audiences including businesses and community groups; 
* thorough understanding of HVAC and other building systems;
* strong writing abilities; and 
* extensive working knowledge of state-of-the-art conservation technologies for both new and retrofit applications. 

Salary: DOE; compensation is competitive within the environmental arena.
