E Source has an opening in its Boulder, Colorado, office for a Research Associate. The role of the research associate is to conduct research, write articles and reports, and respond to customer questions on technologies that empower people to use energy more effectively. The technology categories we cover include, but are not limited to, lighting, heating, air conditioning, motors, building-scale generation, renewables, and load management.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a high level of proficiency in:
Efficiently identifying information resources and conducting research; Communicating clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally; Thinking critically to distinguish between essential and peripheral information, and between fact and marketing fiction; Understanding energy markets and energy end-use technologies; and Translating sometimes complex technical information into products that are easy for a lay audience to understand.
As an E Source Research Associate, your key responsibilities will include:
- Contributing to, or creating, thought-provoking, high-quality content that delights and challenges E Source members while meeting our standards for completeness, accuracy, objectivity, and attention to detail.
- Working closely with your manager and others to scope and organize your deliverables.
- Demonstrating progress in understanding our audience and tailoring your draft materials to satisfy that audience.
- Starting to develop subject-matter expertise in relevant fields.
- Developing or contributing to responses to member inquiries, providing complete and accurate information that generates a positive customer response.
- Completing specific tasks related to the planning and execution of high-quality member events.
- Reviewing content drafted by peers and providing recommendations that improve the quality of content under guidance of more senior staff.
- Successfully managing one or more ongoing projects, such as writing or editing a newsletter.
- Collaborating effectively with colleagues.
Qualifications
- College degree in engineering or physics or significant work experience evaluating, designing, or analyzing energy-consuming end-use equipment;
- graduate degree a plus
- Strong research skills, including ability to use Internet to conduct research
- Strong writing skills
- Strong communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Some public speaking experience
- Computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation applications
