This year, Save the Bay will engage thousands of volunteers in restoring 75 acres of Bay wetlands by hand and will provide Bay recreation and education opportunities for more than 5,000 students and adults.

Position Summary: 

The Restoration Projects Manager is responsible for restoration site planning and day-to-day management of Save The Bay's community-based restoration program at 10 regional habitat restoration sites in San Francisco Bay. The Restoration Projects Manager leads site monitoring and planning, field staff training and management, and coordination of project logistics for our volunteer restoration programs at multiple tidal wetland sites around San Francisco Bay. There are also other special projects as assigned. 

This position works closely with the Native Plant Nursery Manager who leads the management of two wetland native plant nurseries, located in Oakland and Palo Alto, to produce 35,000 seedlings annually. 

We seek a strong communicator who can work independently and as part of a team with at least 2-3 years experience in habitat restoration planning and implementation, site-stewardship programs, and community-based restoration. Teaching experience is a plus. 

The Restoration Projects Manager reports to the Habitat Restoration Director and works closely with other Save The Bay staff and agency site partners. 

Restoration Planning Responsibilities: 

* Work on overall restoration program planning, including development of techniques and activities. 
* Lead staff liaison with resource agency site partners to plan clear schedule of activities, plan quarterly site meetings, communicate weekly logistics, and other communication/ reporting on activities and volunteer numbers.
* Coordinate seasonal restoration program activities, including schedule of native seed collection, invasive plant removal, nursery programs, and outplantings for programs.
* Manage restoration and nursery field equipment, purchasing, and maintenance with Nursery Manager and field staff. 
* Perform administrative work associated with the Community-based Restoration Program, including coordination of project records, restoration activities summaries, statistics for grant proposals and reports, and communication and reporting with site partners. 

Program Responsibilities: 

* Coordinate restoration program content and logistics with Watershed Education staff to ensure successful restoration project implementation. 
* Conduct 2-4 restoration projects workdays per month with community groups, resource agencies, corporate groups, and school groups. 
* Regular field days to do program planning and site maintenance with other staff. 

Staff Management Responsibilities: 

* Manage full and part-time restoration field staff. 
* Train field staff on restoration-related topics and develop program content. 
* Assist with field staff observations and ongoing enrichments and trainings. 

Qualifications: 

* Science degree in biology, botany, natural resources, or other related field. 
* 2-3 years demonstrated experience planning and implementing successful habitat restoration projects, site-stewardship programs, or community-based restoration programs. Teaching experience is a plus. 
* 1-3 years experience in managing staff or field crews in restoration projects. 
* Familiarity with San Francisco Bay ecology and species, tidal wetlands restoration, and native plant restoration techniques and planning. 
* Excellent writing and speaking ability; computer proficiency with Windows, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet research applications.
*" Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks and projects. 
* Enthusiasm for Save The Bay's restoration and policy goals. 
* Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team. 

Also Desirable: 

* Familiarity with San Francisco Bay protection and restoration issues, and with relevant federal, state and regional government agencies, non-profit, and academic institutions. 
* Familiarity with monitoring methods and data collection.
* Familiarity with subtidal restoration and monitoring projects, specifically oyster and eelgrass habitats.

Salary: Low to mid 40's depending on experience, plus excellent benefits.
