Description
Founded in 1998, the Urban Ecology Institute (UEI) helps communities build healthy, safe and vibrant cities by educating urban residents about the ecology of their environment, connecting them to their neighbors, and engaging them in transforming their urban communities into places where they want to live.
UEI works to improve science and civic education for middle and high school youth and works with urban communities to understand, advocate for, and transform natural resources. UEI connects the green infrastructure of a city with the educational, economic, public health and quality of life of urban residents.
Through our work, residents connect their passion for their neighborhoods with the daily demands of real life, including concerns about crime, public health, community growth and change, and economic sustainability. With us, communities reclaim abandoned industrial fields and create new urban parks, join together to create open space plans that serve the needs of residents, and build a new generation of civically engaged young people.
UEI seeks to hire an Office Manager who will work closely with the Executive Director and the Associate Director for Development. The Office Manager will help the Executive Director with financial management, billing and invoicing and will also work on data management and maintenance of the UEI website. The Office Manager will serve as a liaison to Boston College and will mange office records, personnel files, technology and office infrastructure issues, and office supplies.
The Office Manager will also work with the Associate Director for Development on outreach to individual donors and foundations and will assist the Associate Director with Media and Marketing, including an Annual Fund mailing, an annual online Auction, and regular press releases. The job will provide opportunities to learn NGO management and leadership in an entrepreneurial setting.
The salary range is $25,000 to $35,000. UEI provides a generous benefits package, including health, disability and life insurance and payments into a Supplemental Employee Pension plan.
