Description
Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center is a 262 acre facility that will open in September of 2007. More than 3,500 students currently take part in nature education experiences in Shangri La. With the new facilities, that number should increase 3 fold.
Environmental Education Interns at Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center are given the opportunity to develop skills in teaching along with a variety of other areas involving becoming a professional environmental educator.Each intern will complete a series of rotations in areas that include, but are not limited to: Nature Classroom Operation, Special Public Programs, Science Outreach, Working with Volunteers, Natural History, Bird Banding, Working with Rehab Wildlife, Aquatic Ecosystems, Children's Gardens, Wildlife Photography, Museum Management. Interns are encouraged to develop additional rotations to meet their perceived needs.
The successful applicant should have a degree in environmental education, environmental science, biology or some other related field.
Interns receive a $25,000 stipend.
