Job Description
The Sustainability Specialist will help develop and guide company environmental sustainability strategy. Assist in designing programs, projects and initiatives that support and expand the company's environmental and sustainability goals.
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
1.Collaborate with SC team, Eileen's office and other key partners to conceptualize and develop strategic environmental direction for the company.
2. Assist with implementation of environmental programs and projects, e.g. Sustainability Summit, Earth Day Initiative.
3. Cultivate relationships with internal departments and project teams such as the eco-product team, and external partners such as Ceres and consultants, and other brands to deepen environmental commitment.
4. Work with SC team and other key partners on sustainability reporting for company. 5. Serve as a primary communicator around sustainability issues for the company, in public presentations and to the media.
6. Partner with SC Director on supply chain issues related both to environmental sustainability and human rights (SA8000).
7. As member of the Social Consciousness (SC) team, assist with SC activities as needed.
Performs other related duties and assignments as required.
Required Skills:
Education: College degree, preferably in environmental science or other related discipline.
Experience: 3-5 years of relevant experience. Understanding of environmental issues relevant to the consumer products industry (textiles, green building, manufacturing, etc.)
Additional: Strong interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to establish effective relationships with internal and external partners to stimulate and influence change. Demonstrated leadership, project management and planning skills. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work independently as well as with teams; self-motivated. Strong analytical skills. Interest in the effect of the environment on our personal health. Some domestic and international travel required Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and/or Spanish helpful.
