Description

Working closely with fund raising and membership managers, the Online Gifts Manager is responsible for all aspects of online programs, including fund raising and acquisition campaigns and electronic communications.

This position is also responsible for testing and tracking performance of communications, implementing a calendar for departmental communications and recommending improvements. The incumbent is responsible for meeting or exceeding online transaction revenue goals.

Creates and implements development's calendar of email and print communications. Manages online fund raising appeals and membership drives including online giving pages, confirmation and emails; tests strategies and tracks responses, recommends changes to schedules, copy, format; implements and expands efforts as appropriate.

Creates, evaluates and, working with others, implements a communications and cultivation plan within development (electronic and print) including campaign updates, aquarium highlights, membership and fund raising appeals (includes 6-8 contacts within first four months of giving).

Writes, edits and proofs email communications to members and donors including "versioned" Sea Notes to members; edits and proofs development print materials. Works with the web team and PR to create fund raising copy/pages and links to our giving pages; writes and edits copy.

Manages our online transaction vendor; solicits proposals, negotiates the contract, evaluates results and is the primary contact for our department. Participates on the Marketing team for special projects and provides development input for moving aquarium visitors to members and donors.

Recommends improvements in our recognition of business partners on the web site. Creates draft copy and coordinates Shorelines and annual review production; works with web team to implement online versions. Tracks activity on our planned giving web site pages; evaluates usage and recommends changes; manages vendor.

Works with others to implement business rules regarding communications to members by other departments; coordinates development communications with other departments. Reviews (audits) all basic development communications (i.e., renewals, acknowledgements, updates). Implements new technologies for appeals and acquisitions. Assists department staff with events for donor and members.

Qualifications:

Minimum four year degree or equivalent experience. Minimum 3 years experience in development/fund raising in a non-profit organization. Excellent customer service and written/oral communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and experience with a database program.
