Strategic Energy Innovations (SEI) is seeking an Assistant Project Coordinator to support its sustainability programs in working with local jurisdictions and in the affordable housing sector, in addition to assisting with other community-focused energy and green building related projects.

SEI is a small non-profit organization based in Marin County. Through funding from federal, state, city, and private organizations, SEI helps communities, schools and multifamily housing developments design and implement energy efficiency and conservation programs. We approach energy savings from several different perspectives and on many levels. Drawing from a broad range of practical knowledge, we create networks of individuals and communities that are key to successful energy projects.

Responsibilities 

The SEI Assistant Project Coordinator supports the activities of the Project Coordinators and Project Directors and will report to the Executive Director. The position will assist with a variety of SEI's programs, including:

* Conducting research and synthesizing information to support efforts for our projects in the multi-family/affordable housing sector, such as the Housing Energy Program and the affordable housing pilot for the California Sustainability Alliance in Southern California.
* Conducting research and investigating best practices in local jursidiction's efforts to develop green, climate protection, or zero carbon policies and strategies As time permits, this position may also assist SEI staff on other projects focused on the urban planning, green building and alternative energy sectors. 
* Support all aspects of implementing the programs referenced above.
* Assist with day-to-day program oversight and coordination, including some administrative work
* Conduct Internet research and prepare related summaries, reports and spreadsheets quantifying and tabulating findings.
* Provide logistical support for training workshops and meetings.
* Attend local and statewide workshops, conferences and meetings as required to support the programs, and help SEI staff in preparing and delivering presentations at these events.
* Work with all SEI team members to develop and implement innovative programs and/or expand community-based programs. Activities may include identifying funding sources and writing grant proposals. 

Qualifications

Experience in green building, energy efficiency, climate protection, urban planning, or affordable housing, is preferred, but not required; some professional development is available. The successful candidate will have most or all of the following qualities, skills, and experience:

- Bachelor's degree in environmental education, urban planning, energy management, environmental sciences, or other related field or equivalent work experience
- Familiarity with environmental/energy conservation and efficiency topics, tools and techniques
- Familiarity with affordable housing concepts and programs
- Familiarity with local jurisdiction codes, policies and incentives
- Effective organization skills
- Proven written and verbal communication skills
- Able to work both under direct supervision and independently
- Fundamental project management skills
- Ability to follow through and meet deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to build rapport with a wide range of people - Ability and willingness to travel statewide to support programs
- Computer skills: Internet navigation, word processing and spreadsheet capabilities are essential
