Celilo Group Media is a Portland, Oregon-based company with a mission of promoting ethical consumerism and expanding the marketplace for sustainable products.
Celilo Group Media is seeking a goal-oriented, dynamic individual to serve as Sustainable Business Accounts Manager to assist with the launch of an East Bay-focused environmental consumer guide + green product and services coupon book.
The successful applicant will manage key relationships with local merchants to implement a successful advertising and retail distribution plan for the publication, which launches in late August 2007. This publication includes local resources for green living and several hundred coupons for locally-available green products and services meeting environmental criteria. The books are sold through grocers, bookstores and by school and community groups as a fundraiser.
The Sustainable Business Accounts Manager will create and maintain sales relationships with local businesses that offer coupons and place advertising in the publication and sell it at retail. This position is involved with many aspects of book publishing, including setting and achieving goals for both circulation and advertising and implementing promotions. This is an exciting opportunity with a growing green media firm to be a key player in the launch of a new publication in the Bay Area.
Main Responsibilities
* Assist the Bay Area Director in the design and implementation of the overall sales goals and promotional strategies with area businesses for the publication's coupons and advertising. Work with Bay Area Director to design and implement a complete sales, distribution and promotion strategy for the publication in East Bay retail outlets.
* Manage ongoing retail and merchant account relationships, including inventory management, order processing and delivery.
* Organize and maintain persistent follow-up procedures with potential advertising and retail leads.
* Provide excellent customer service for a wide variety of merchant accounts.
* Contact new advertising customers to advertise in the publication.
* Contact new coupon advertisers to create and approve advertising/coupons for publication.
* Assist Director in setting long and short term sales goals to contribute to the overall sales and marketing strategy.
* Perform various administrative duties, including invoicing, answering telephone, creating documents, mailing and book deliveries.
* Participate in monthly conference calls and an annual meeting with the Sustainable Business Accounts Managers from other markets.
* Exhibit knowledge and enthusiasm for promoting local and sustainable businesses and products; keep up to date with current green business trends and sustainability issues.
Position Requirements
* Self-motivated, outgoing, positive, respectful personality
* BA or BS required
* Experience in sales, marketing and community outreach
* High comfort level setting and achieving long- and short-term sales goals
* Excellent presentation and communication skills, including verbal and written
* Experience developing relationships over the phone and face-to-face
* A basic understanding and strong interest in sustainability issues
* Experience using basic Excel spreadsheets
* Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends for special events
* Ability to lift 30-lb boxes of books (required for this position)
* Access to a vehicle and valid drivers license (required for this position)
This is a full-time, salaried position with a salary range of $35,000-$45,000, starting salary commensurate with experience. Medical and dental benefits begin after 90 days of employment. All Celilo Group Media employees qualify for the company profit-sharing plan and have the option to participate in the retirement plan after two years of employment. We offer generous vacation time, flexible hours and the opportunity to work with a growing and innovative company. Use of own vehicle is required, with mileage reimbursed.
