Position Overview:

We are currently looking for a committed individual with a positive/energetic attitude to join our Nordstrom Product Group team!

The Social Responsibility Program Manager has primary responsibility for developing and providing continuous improvement to the NPG Social Compliance program with the aim of ensuring that suppliers are in full compliance with applicable legal standards and partnership guidelines using entrepreneurial spirit and a strong interest in employing business as a mechanism for change.

Duties include:

  • Assisting in determining course of action to implement business plans and initiatives for developing processes and procedures to enhance or improve Nordstrom's Social Compliance Department.  
  • Ensuring smooth daily operations of Social Compliance department, including problem solving, training and communication.

Job Accountability:

  • Develop and maintain the integrity of NPG Social Compliance standards  
  • Assist in selection process, negotiate, institute and monitor progress of 3rd Party Auditing Firm(s) participation in NPG Global Monitoring Program.  
  • Train and oversee personnel to ensure the adherence to NPG Global Social Responsibility Procedures (includes: Nordstrom personnel, Third Party personnel and Internal Factory personnel)  
  • Collect invoices; confirm for accuracy, sign-off all invoices within approval limit range.  
  • Manage daily/monthly expenses to maintain or improve upon budget requirements.  
  • Maintain the development of a comprehensive Auditing System Database for Nordstrom manufacturing facilities. Ensure milestones and specific requirements established by Social Compliance are met.  
  • Identify and communicate potential problems/ issues amongst manufacturing factory base with regard to Social Compliance.  
  • Travel to factories and perform inspections to ensure compliance with Social Compliance standards. Monitor the compliance efforts of the Agent and factories and report any deviations. Create an improvement plan to support any changes and monitor their progress.  
  • Receive, analyze, and communicate to necessary parties the results of Social Compliance audit reports from 3rd Party Auditing Firm(s).  
  • Keep current on industry standards, practices and methodologies as well as government and/or non-government organization findings and/or activities.

Qualifications:

  • Experience managing or working with Social Compliance programs  
  • 5 years (+) field experience inspecting factories for human rights and health and safety issues  
  • Experience working with NGO and Government with regard to regulatory or policy issues with understanding of their needs and requirements  
  • Experience in apparel and footwear manufacturing a plus  
  • Requires 35% travel time commitment  
  • Strong proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint  
  • Basic knowledge of Access
