Morris Land Conservancy is a nonprofit land trust founded in 1981 whose mission is to preserve and protect open space land and water resources in northern New Jersey. The Conservancy has helped to preserve over 10,000 acres of natural lands. We currently assist 29 municipalities in implementing their Open Space and Farmland Preservation Plans.
Utilizing the services of our Aresty Mapping Center we develop detailed open space and land preservation maps. Our Partners for Parks program celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2006 and has completed 300 projects in 65 parks. We have put over 5000 corporate volunteers to work on projects to improve our parks. The Conservancy has its headquarters in a beautiful park in Montville, N.J. and has a staff of fifteen.
Morris Land Conservancy is seeking to hire a Program Manager to join our conservation team to protect northern New Jersey's beautiful open space lands. The Program Manager will be charged with the oversight of all activities related to the planning, development and implementation of our award-winning Partners for Parks volunteer stewardship program.
The duties of this mid-level position include the recruitment, cultivation and oversight of corporations and their volunteer groups; arranging customized one day community service projects to enhance parks and open space lands; developing and maintaining relationships with park and land managers; creating innovative strategies to promote volunteer retention and recognition; directing actual projects in the field; researching and pursuing avenues of corporate funding for the program.
Responsibilities:
* Manage volunteer stewardship program
* Recruit and cultivate corporate connections and volunteer groups
* Develop rapport and work closely with numerous park and land managers to arrange projects that meet the needs of the parks
* Coordinate and facilitate community service projects
* Make presentations to groups
* Maintain record keeping and tracking of program statistics
The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience in a related position such as volunteer coordination, event planning or community outreach project facilitation with demonstrated success. Must have experience in program management, working with groups, strong interpersonal skills, and exceptional organizational and verbal communication skills. Must have a proven ability to multi task and meet deadlines, a strong interest in land conservation and be a goal oriented team player who enjoys working with people.
