Earthwatch Institute is a $20mm international, non-profit organization that engages people worldwide in scientific field research and education to promote the understanding and action necessary for a sustainable environment. 

Position Summary: 

The Group Outreach Manager is responsible for the co-creating of strategies and tactics for outreach to groups with intent to directly benefit retail volunteer recruitment. Working under the leadership of the Director of Volunteer Outreach (Retail Sales), the Manager, Group Outreach, will accomplish the following: 

Responsibilities: 

? Maintain current base of active groups, their leaders, and all group prospects; grow number of group sign-ups by 20 percent year over year.
* Generate sales of 15 groups in first year directly attributed to outreach and relationship management efforts of position. Responsible for data tracking of these sales within database. New refers to new groups to the organization and/or those who have not been on a project in the past four years. 
* Implement membership sign-up and giving goals for groups; build out incentive strategy for this opportunity.
* Ensure inquiry generation at all outreach activities; work to achieve 15% inquiries of any group interaction. 
* Work with active and lapsed group leaders and participants to recruit sales and development prospects.
* Research and implement best practices for immersing group expeditions in the mission of Earthwatch involving marketing, fundraising, education, outreach, events and stewardship.
* Cultivate partnerships with groups in collaborating and co-creating experience opportunities that generate inquiries, memberships, sales, and donations from prospective and existing volunteers.
* Implement and direct group events, forums, activities, and outreach. Includes direct participation and recruitment of groups to serve in Earthwatch capacity at events such as travel shows, lectures, gatherings, etc.
* Participate in the research and develop an understanding of our group behaviors and preferences. Leverage these preferences for improving outreach and involvement. Study competition offers for group expeditions and events.
* Cross-departmental coordination and liaison in the execution of engagement strategies, involving fundraising, marketing, education, and event staff and resources as they relate to group sales. 
* All aspects of engagement and planning as they relate to Group Outreach
* Work with marketing to create strategies and tactics around the internet and technology as a channel for Group Outreach, such as working with IT and Marketing to make utilities on the website useful, create compelling multimedia presentations, such as event documentaries and online interactive presentations for use by the field reps; use the Internet to broker field representative outreach to potential volunteers; explore the possibilities of online field rep communities, blogs, podcasts etc. 
* Work with Annual Fund Director to ensure group sales coordination between annual giving and volunteer recruitment. 
* Promote all group programs, events, activities and initiatives, including general oversight.
* Performs volunteer management in collaboration with field management to ensure high quality group experience. 
* Extends hospitality to all groups at every Earthwatch interaction, where possible. 
* Works closely with the Director of Volunteer Outreach to identify and provide information regarding efforts, activities, interests and events, to be included in holistic outreach efforts.
* Develop and oversee comprehensive group incentive based model including review of discounts, opportunities, clubs, etc. 

Performance measurements: 

* Group sales are appropriate, effective, and support Earthwatch's strategic plans. 
* Outreach efforts support sales and development goals, and are closely monitored and revised as needed. 
* Accomplishment of outreach and revenue targets as they relate to groups. 
* Groups enjoy quality customer service and are well supervised.
* All necessary directors are appropriately informed of the group program, opportunities for efficiencies and collaboration, and of any significant problems.
* Participation and engagement from prospects and groups in expeditions, as well as increased giving percentages by these audiences. 

Qualifications/Skills: 

* Bachelor's degree, preferably in marketing 
* 3-5 years in sales, development or outreach capacity.
* Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices involved in developing and maintaining an effective outreach and relationship management program.
* Strong management, organizational and interpersonal communication skills. 
* Ability to lead, be creative, innovative and decisive. 
* Ability to maintain, oversee and implement key communication initiatives through multiple outlets and audiences. 
* Ability to establish and maintain good social and working relationships with colleagues, groups, and other constituents of Earthwatch. 
* Ability to facilitate multiple projects, make decisions and meet deadlines. 
* Ability to manage and motivate volunteers effectively and efficiently. 
* Ability to identify problems and to develop creative, timely and efficient solutions. 
* Sense of humor and desire to be part of a team.
* Ability and willingness to travel over 40% of the time, work evenings and weekends as necessary. 

Salary range: Salary range: $37,000 - $42,000. Good benefit package.
