Description

Environmental consulting firm specializing in recycling and solid waste management has an opening for a Recycling Inspector to monitor compliance at commercial properties. Additionally, Great Forest works on ISO Certification and sustainability projects, and interested applicants should indicate any previous ISO Certification or other related experience in their cover letter.

Job Overview: 

General responsibilities include scheduling and performing inspections at commercial properties, and educating tenants and cleaning staff about proper procedures. Work involves assessing participation and compliance, identifying problems, recommending solutions, and taking immediate action when appropriate. Also responsible for submitting written reports on a monthly basis detailing field work, creating educational materials for clients, conducting surveys (waste audits), and setting up recycling programs. 

Requirements: 

Must be self-reliant, very organized, and have a strong interest in the environment. Must enjoy educating people and solving problems, must possess excellent communication skills, write clearly and concisely, and have good computer skills. College degree (4-year) required. Days will be split between office tasks in the morning and field work in the afternoon. Good time management is imperative. 

Job Details: 

Work hours are generally from 9:00AM - 5:30PM, although some evening hours are required several days each month; also, periodic night work between the hours of 10:00PM and 1:00AM as needed. Flexibility is required. 

Salary and health benefits (after a standard three month wait period) are negotiable. 

Please note that while the office is currently located in midtown, we are scheduled to move to Harlem at the end of June. Travel time must be taken into consideration.
