Description

CEE is seeking an enthusiastic individual to support the development of emerging energy-efficiency initiatives and to maintain existing program efforts. The individual will be part of a team working with two program managers.

The individual will be responsible for actively supporting committees of energy-efficiency program administrators from across the country who are working to identify innovative approaches to promote high-efficiency equipment, processes, and system optimization strategies. The individual will also support projects on behalf of energy-efficiency program administrators, major equipment manufacturers, and sales and service organizations from across the country.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate superior communication (oral and written) and research skills as well as possess an understanding of the consensus-building process.

The candidate should also have a demonstrated interest in:

1) promoting efficiency concepts to technical and business audiences,
2) technical, financial and business issues related to industrial companies,
3) marketing strategies for energy-efficient products and services.

The candidate will provide support for regular committee meetings of utility, industry, government, and other stakeholder groups to develop, discuss, and evaluate energy-efficiency program opportunities. In general, these support activities may include planning and convening in-person meetings and conference calls, generating meeting notes, conducting research, writing white papers, making presentations, and polling committee members on various issues. Specific job responsibilities are listed below.

Typical job responsibilities support these areas:

1. Conduct directed secondary research on energy-efficient products, services, and promotional strategies applicable to the industrial sector, including assessments of current market conditions, energy savings opportunities, emerging technologies, recommended strategies for affecting national markets, and recommended approaches for promoting energy-efficient goods and services.

2. Analyze how research findings may impact CEE activities. Consider how to integrate the new information to more fully meet organizational objectives.

3. Summarize findings in white papers and memos, as well as in presentations to staff and CEE members.

4. Actively contribute to and/or facilitate committee discussions on research findings.

5. Help communicate consensus positions internally (among committee members) and externally via the media and project materials.

6. Maintain an active relationship with the media (particularly the business press) including managing existing media contacts, developing new contacts within targeted business and financial publications

7. Draft articles and press releases for national and local publication and secure placements in trade publications and other appropriate venues.

8. Represent CEE in public settings which may include CEE quarterly meetings, biannual stakeholder meetings, and industrial trade shows and conferences.

The ideal applicant will have the following:

*? A graduate degree or equivalent (e.g., BA/BS including graduate coursework, honors thesis or significant applicable employment experience).
* 2-3 years of work experience in a professional work environment.
* Superior oral and written communication skills.
* Demonstrated secondary research skills.
* Attention to detail.
* Ability to embrace complexity.
* Ability to work independently.
* Ability to communicate strategic concepts in a persuasive manner, such as how energy management improves economic competitiveness.
* Ability to manage workload across multiple projects.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
* Proficiency with Quark, In-Design, or Dream Weaver a plus but not required.
* Willingness to travel (ranging from once/quarter to once/month) within the U.S.
