ACCION Investment Management Company, LLC (AIMCO) is the company manager for ACCION Investments in Microfinance, SPC, (ACCION Investments) an investment company focused on making equity and quasi-equity investments in microfinance institutions worldwide.
ACCION Investments, incorporated in 2003, has $19.5 million in committed capital from multilateral, bilateral and private investors. AIMCO is owned by ACCION International, an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to giving people the tools they need, small business loans ("microcredit"), and training to work their way out of poverty.
Job Overview:
The Senior Director will be part of a small team based in Boston, managing a global microfinance equity investment company positioned for growth over the next year.
Job Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include: due diligence, investment analysis, development of investment recommendations, investment monitoring and reporting.
The position will also include the negotiation of deal terms and conditions, and management of investments through active participation on boards of directors of portfolio companies. International travel required at least 30% - 35% of time. This role interacts with board members and senior management in microfinance institutions.
Job Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate will have 2 - 3 years experience in finance and investment banking, experience in deal structuring on the private equity side, analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in English and Spanish is required.
- Proficiency in French is desirable.
- Microfinance and governance experience is a plus.
- Candidates should be based in Boston or willing to relocate.
