Impact Capital was formed in 2000 through a consolidation of the Washington Community Development Loan Fund (WCDLF) and the Seattle Community Development Collaborative (SCDC). The Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), a national non-profit organization that provides financing, training and technical assistance to build sustainable communities, began operations in Puget Sound in 1982.
Through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Impact Capital is affiliated with LISC and maintains a working relationship to build sustainable communities throughout Washington State. The Chief Executive Officer reports directly to the Impact Capital Board of Directors.
Job Overview:
Impact Capital is seeking a visionary, passionate and experienced community development professional to serve as Chief Executive Officer. Impact Capital is a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), located in Seattle, Washington, that provides loans and capacity building assistance and community development expertise to a broad spectrum of not-for-profit organizations across Washington State.
Tasks/Responsibilities:
- The Chief Executive Officer will manage operations and supervise a 10-15 person staff and will have primary responsibility, with the participation of the Impact Capital Board of Directors, for developing the direction and focus of operations;
- The Chief Executive Officer will also develop and maintain effective working relationships with corporate, philanthropic, civic and public entities that support a comprehensive state-wide community development agenda; including, but not limited to affordable housing, financing, economic development, business real estate, etc;
- This position is at-will and works at the pleasure of the Impact Capital Board of Directors.
Requirements:
Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of the local and statewide environments: Eastern Washington, Seattle and Puget Sound funders, political principals, community redevelopment agencies, community development corporations, and other key stakeholders of Impact Capital;
- A commitment to building communities through community development; especially distressed and underserved communities;
- An effective change agent, entrepreneurial, creative, high energy and an action/solution-oriented approach to issues;
- Fiscal and administrative management, including annual budget process, loan portfolio and investment portfolio management, effective agency organizational design and infrastructure;
- Willingness to fully engage in fundraising and capital campaigns activities;
- Excellent communications skills: public speaking, persuasion, negotiation, consensus building, excellent verbal and written communications skills;
- Demonstrated staff team building skills.
- Think strategically and creatively to motivate and manage people and resources;
- Apply sound fiscal and administrative practices to the agency's programs - gauge and balance the parameters of risk and make good policy and decisions;
- Work in a culturally diverse environment: build consensus across disparate groups with uncommon interests;
- Develop an effective and desirable work environment and organizational culture, translated from organizational values and agency vision;
- Work with senior level corporate, philanthropic, and private sector officials;
- Willingness to travel throughout Washington State and outside the state as required.
Impact Capital is most interested in candidates who meet or exceed the following profile:
- A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Real Estate or related field;
- A Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Real Estate or related field is strongly preferred;
- Ten years of progressively responsible management experience, including at least five years in an Executive Director or Senior Executive capacity;
- Experience in multiple areas of the following programs/functions is preferred: lending, public funding, commercial or residential real estate, affordable housing, portfolio and investment management, community banking, and community redevelopment;
- Experience in executive management in a non-profit setting is preferred.
