Description

We are an uncertified-organic operation with two positions available for a pastamaker, eggwasher and farmers market helper in one.

The position begins March 22, 2006 and it varys in length depending on the candidate. We need someone to work at least 4 months or longer. We offer $700/month, housing and $20 of our products a week (if you can work at least 5 days a week).

We are a unique sustainable operation where a person can gain a better perspective of how sustainable agriculture can benefit and help alleviate some of the problems of suburban sprawl.

Smith Meadows is a free-range family-run farm one hour west of Washington D.C. in Berryville, VA. The Pritchard family uses sustainable and organic methods to raise beef cattle, pigs, laying hens, and goats on a 350 acre farm in Clarke County at the top of the Shenandoah Valley. We bring a variety of products to several farmers' markets in the D.C. Metropolitan area. These products include free-range meats and eggs, hand-made pastas and fresh apple sauce in season.

The farm is also home to Smithfield Farm Bed & Breakfast, a small inn renowned for its historical setting and gourmet breakfasts made with free-range ingredients. An employee at Smith Meadows will gain practical experience in many aspects of sustainable food production and agritourism.
