Earthwatch Institute is an international, non-profit organization which engages people worldwide in scientific field research and education to promote the understanding and action necessary for a sustainable environment.
The Development Associate will work closely with all members of the Development team to provide support and organize department functioning, but primarily support the Chief Development Officer.
Duties:
* Manage development input to and output from the Earthwatch database, including gift entry, tracking of prospects, donors and gifts, generation of thank-you letters, generation of reports for development staff, President, and Board of Directors
* Coordinate with CDO in effective organization of department including scheduling meetings, file management, travel preparation, etc.
* Utilize creative talents and resources to assist in proposal preparation, follow-up, etc.
* Create and manage system to track donors and prospects by funding type (individuals, foundations, corporations) in conjunction with other staff; maintain electronic and hard-copy files;
* Help coordinate all annual fund communications, both incoming and outgoing
* Work with all department staff to draft and format letters and proposals, establishing consistency in format among all types of proposals
* Serve as contact and resource for Board of Directors in their development efforts.
* Provide support in coordination of donor events, including logistics, mailings, travel, etc.
* Coordinate special development projects, as needed
* Other duties as assigned
Skills & Experience required:
* Bachelor's degree preferred
* 1 - 3 years of experience working in a non-profit or educational organization, development or sales department is a plus.
* Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
* Expert in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
* Experience working in databases
* Demonstrated proficiency in using internet research resources
* Ability to multitask, detail oriented
* Must be flexible and willing to pitch in wherever needed
* Ability to work some nights and weekends
Salary range:$28,000 - $37,000. Good benefits.
