Description
Food and Water Watch is a new national consumer advocacy organization that challenges the economic and political forces promoting industrialized food production and the privatization of the oceans and fresh water resources on the local, national and international levels.
The marine campaign at Food and Water Watch works to prevent the privatization of fisheries around the world, to ensure that consumers have access to healthy fish and to promote the rights of small scale fishing. Specifically, we work to prevent the development of industrial fish farms in our nation's waters and along coastal areas of Central and South America. We oppose the privatization of the right to fish. We fight the unjust trade agreements at the World Trade Organization and the international finance institutions that manifest those rules.
The marine campaign is looking for a full time organizer who will help protect the world's fisheries from being sold to the highest bidder! The candidate should have at least two years organizing experience, strong oral and written communication skills, good attention to detail, and computer skills.
Position based in Washington, DC. Good benefits and a competitive salary.
